$10.00
The Atlantic Wire Company was established by William E. Hitchcock, Sr. in 1906 at Church and Meadow Streets in Branford, Connecticut. The “Wire Mill” as it was called produced wire from steel rods in many grades, sizes, and shapes. The wire was sold to dozens of manufacturers who used the wire to make hundreds of diverse products. Products made from Atlantic Wire were bird cages, staples, mousetraps, paper clips, fasteners, pins, bolts, electrical wire, textile wire, coat hangers, and jewelry chains. At its peak the company had 172,000 square feet of floor space on 9 acres and 250 employees. The Atlantic Wire Company closed in 2008.
