GOAL REACHED!
We Did It — Capt. Spencer’s Cane Topper
Is Coming Home!

In 1899, Branford friends gave Capt. John Spencer a gold-topped cane to mark his golden wedding anniversary. Thanks to an outpouring of support — and a generous anonymous donor who matched gifts dollar-for-dollar up to $325 — we’ve reached our $650 goal already. The gold topper from that very cane is coming home to the Harrison House.
Thanks to Branford friends like you, help us keep the momentum going for the Harrison House’s Fall 2026 Exhibit Revitalization.
We’ve heard from several of you who would still like to give. Your gift goes to this next: this fall, the Harrison House is revitalizing its exhibits — new layouts, new interpretive panels, and a proper home for pieces like Capt. Spencer’s cane topper. Grant funding covers part of the work, but we’re still about $2,000 short on new collection cases. Every gift from here goes directly toward closing that gap.
