The Civil War Soldiers of Branford, Connecticut details the contribution of the town’s men in the War of the Rebellion. Most of the soldiers enlisted as privates during 1862 in the 15th and 27th Connecticut Volunteer Regiments. Company B of the 27th was Branford’s home unit along with men from North Branford and Wallingford. Branford men served in nearly every Connecticut Regiment and fought in many engagements including Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, and Gettysburg. The narratives tells about the soldiers’ military service and life after their return home.
