Branford, Connecticut was established in 1644 by English settlers from New Haven and Wethersfield. Main Street and Montowese Street, then both known as Towne Street were the town’s first streets where the settlers built their homes. The town’s activities have always been centered along these streets and the Town Common now called the Branford Green. The First Congregational Church, then Trinity Episcopal Church and the First Baptist Church built their edifices on the Green. The homes of the colonist along Main Street became commercial establishments at the time of the Civil War. Today, Main Street and the beautiful Town Green remain the hub of Branford’s government, community events, culinary and shopping venues.

This disc contains scans of 80 postcards.
